While Flash's Actionscript 3 adds a streamlined display chain, it did not improve upon controlling of video purely through the API. The mismatch of AS2 and AS3 conventions makes it easy to be tripped up and is asking for an overhaul. Until that happens, we present Tronster's MIT Licensed class that takes a lot of the pain out from working with video when in pure AS3.
